Q&A with the Georganics founder
We speak to the founder of Georganics, who makes the wonderful plastic free toothpaste and mouthwash tablets included in some of our boxes. We love them because they share so many similar values but most importantly, they started with a similar question. Are all these synthetic chemicals necessary? Research has shown that this isn't the case for either the home or oral care as nature provides ingredients of the highest calibre. So enjoy our interview below and enjoy understanding more about Georganics.
What does sustainability mean to you?
Sustainability, first and foremost is a journey not a perfect destination. It is the constantly evolving actions we make to make the world a better place for future generations and our natural wildlife. In the last few years alone we’ve made countless changes to reduce our environmental impact and that isn’t going to change any time soon - we’re always looking for the next thing to change.
What was your lightbulb moment for the need to make changes to become more sustainable?
It all started with wanting to create products that were free from unnecessary and potentially harmful chemicals. We didn't see the need for any ingredients in oral care products to be potentially damaging to other aspects of your health. That then naturally evolved into not wanting to do harm to the environment. The two are so closely entwined it seemed like such an obvious next step.
What’s your favourite eco swap?
Aside from bathroom swaps, we love to see people making their own sanitising sprays to reduce plastic consumption as well as resting jars for use in refill shops!
What do you think works best as an idea to re-use your lovely products?
We love seeing people use our jars to grow herbs or small plants in, we’re biased but we think the jars look great as little planters!
What has been the biggest achievement for Georganics?
The business has grown at such an incredible rate but for us our impact (or lack of!) will always be what we’re most proud of. To be able to produce the quantity of products that we now do and not have anything going to landfill is definitely a highlight.
